The show began as an exploration of the ays in which works of art are imbued with authority in a 'more formal' gallery setting. Participants, none of whom had achieved renown within the art world, were asked to create an artwork. As a starting point, each was given two boxes of matches. All were asked to create a work which reflected an inner voice that was not given weight, respect or authority in the world around us. Each of the participants had in common a desire to make art a more important aspect of their daily lives.
