text, beat, journal is an exhibition of text-based art that will coincide with The Manulife Literary Arts Festival, for which one of the venues is Open Space. Words in visual art have been a tradition throughout history, and have risen to a level in contemporary art where they now can replace images, but not intent. With this in mind, three artists, Kirtley Jarvis, Les Newman and Dan Painchaud will take part in the exhibition with their unique use of words and using different artistic mediums, such as fabric and embroidery, photography, and found materials like plywood, metal and glass.
