Swallows Meadow

Swallows Meadow

Artist: Ian Thomas

Date: May 4 to 27, 1989

A mixed-media exhibition by Ian Thomas that explored imagery centered around himself and his parents.

"It's a wonderful name, Swallows' Meadow. Perhaps a resting place, the final destination after being swept away? Although the artist Ian Thomas never states the location of this haven, it soon becomes clear that it is a rest home for the elderly and that there is nothing magical about Swallows' Meadow. An installation composed of a wheelchair, a walker, a TV on a trolley and an ashtray of squashed smokes is sobering evidence."
