Victoria painter Suzanne Bessette mounted her first solo show at Open Space, in conjunction with a month long series of contemporary art by women to commemorate International Women's Day on March 8. 

"In this series [of paintings of], religious, art historical icons of ecstasy and contemporary symbols of strength, communication, power and violence are juxtaposed with advertising images of 90s intimate apparel."
