Open Space presents Vertical Gallery, an exhibition by two intriguing emerging artists selected by judicator Marlaina Buch. Shandy Bearman and Alexandra Demasson contribute individual sculptural installations that explore the accumulation and dispersal of social constraints and expectations.

Shandy Bearman’s Tension evokes anxious feelings by confining a wax filled form within a series of incrementally smaller glass boxes. The sequential size reduction eventually causes the form to “burst”, producing a violent reflection on the inevitable result of social containment.

Alexandra Demasson’s Community As A Home For Many involves participatory exploration of three amorphous hanging forms with the goal of creating new spaces for unguarded social interaction and play.
