Andy Warhol Films: The Loves of Ondine and Vinyl
Artist: Ondine
Date: March 19, 1983
Open Space hosted a screening of two of Andy Warhol's early films Loves of Ondine and Vinyl. The films were presented by Warhol superstar and underground matinee idol Ondine (alias New York actor Robert Olivia).
"Vinyl, an erratic exercise on the sexuality of violence, was the first film version of Anthony Burgess' A Clockwork Organce, made after Warhol purchased the rights for a meagre $3,000. The Loves of Ondine is a showcase for the talents of Ondine, an unabashed individualist who espouses, amoung other things, chastity."
In an interview, the ex-Warhol hanger-on said: "I don't drink. I don't have sex. I find the idea of a fling nauseating. My commitments took 10 years off my life. I want single beds and reading."
