"you fall behind me" is an electroacoustic work that looks at the ideas of the noise/music relationship, exploring instrumentation, texture, orchestration and application of narrative in sound works.
imaginationandmymother (iamm) like to go on sonic adventures with ambient, image-provoking sound, and have been seen and heard around the world, including the Tate Britain (UK), Copenhagen (KØBENHAVN - RAMT AF BYEN, Denmark), the Torino Contemporeana (Italy), and the San Fransisco Asian Art Museum (USA). Consisting of Susan Hawkins and Olivia Pisani, iamm is primarily concerned with exploring the conspiratorial relationship between sound, music and image in creating a platform for image, thought and reflection.
We feel the work began to be 'written' from its conception. We believe composition is a process, and although works may never be fully 'written', the commencement of a sonic idea in space constitutes the beginning of the writing process. Working as a collaborative team, we often have many works in progress that will evolve over time, allowing both composers access and space to consider and continue to work on a piece. However, ultimately our starting point is the creation of an idea, a concept, a sound, a theme, a texture.
