Dishwasher safe was constructed from sounds made by a glass marble rolling inside several different dishes and pots, the composer’s voice an an electric guitar. By manipulating the original dishes sounds using electric guitar effect pedals, it results in a small noisy dishwasher in action. We can easily imagine a strange singing housewife waiting for the dishes to be cleaned.

I was in my studio, searching for some inspiring sounds when I saw some dishes tha I received from my grandmother. I took a glass marble which was inside a flower pot and made it rolled inside these cristal dishes. At this moment, I felt that it could constitutes the basis of a new work. So, I transformed these ‘natural’ sounds using different effects such as chorus ans delay. After, when I listenedto it, i twas obvious that something interesting was about to be done.

Bio:

Born on November 13 1986 in Thetford Mines, a small town located in the province of Québec, Émilie Payeur discovered the music at an early age. At 11 years old, she began to play the guitar and learned how to play of this instrument by herself. She created her first song at about 14 years old. During this period, progressive rock and psychedelic music best describe what she is doing. However, because of her curious mind and her constant need to innovate, she fell in love with contemporary music,especially with the Stockhausen’s work. From 2004 to 2007, she studied jazz guitar at the Drummondville Cegep under the guidance of Paule Magnan. Electroacoustic is at that time in almost every of her compositions. She asked Gilles Gobeil, who is teaching at the Drummondville Cegep to listen to her creations. He gave her good comments and this is why she decided to continue her studies in this creative style of music. In September, she will enter the University of Montreal to study electroacoustic composition with teachers such as Robert Normandeau, Jean Piché and Caroline Traube.
