Among the contributors to Laura is acclaimed avant-garde jazz pianist Paul Plimley, who provided the music for the piece, improvising a de facto score that consists of free-flowing variations of David Raksin’s famous theme. Plimley will perform with bassist Tommy Babin, a rare opportunity for Victoria’s New Music aficionados.

Renowned musician, composer and sculptor Ellen Fullman will transform 510 Fort Street into a musical instrument. Open Space is excited to host Ellen Fullman for a five day residency and installation of her acclaimed Long String Instrument November 1 - 5. The Long String Instrument is over 60 feet long with 100 metal, tunable strings. These strings can be played by brushing, stroking, bowing, and walking while rubbing with rosined fingertips, producing overtones, or higher tones, with a musical range that extends three octaves.
