Open-Ended: Conversations About Art Practice

Saturday, February 24, Open Space (510 Fort St), in conjunction with CFUV and MediaNet presents Open-Ended: Conversations About Art Practice, featuring 5 contemporary Victoria artists discussing the intimate and public adventures of their artistic practices.

The participating artists will be: Judith Price (Camosun College), Wendy Welch (Vancouver Island School of Art), Maureen Bradley (University of Victoria), the musician/visual artist Lily Fawn and Farheen HaQ, an independent video artist and educator. Radio host Betsy Nuse will moderate.

Prior to the conversation a lunch will be served from noon to 1 pm, during which the artists will screen various works. Audience participation will be encouraged.

This event will be recorded by MediaNet for broadcast on CFUV, and television broadcast on the SHAW community channel, as well as web pod-casting.

The three organizations, Open Space, MediaNet and CFUV 101.9 FM Campus Community Radio, hope the event will stimulate critical discourse around artistic practice and the situation for contemporary artists, and if reaction is good to the event, it could serve as a model for a series of art talks.
