Open Word: Readings and Ideas. Annabel Lyon

Wednesday March 26, 7:30pm

Open Word: Readings and Ideas welcomes Vancouver novelist Annabel Lyon on Wednesday, March 26, 7:30pm at Open Space. Lyon will read from her fourth work of fiction, currently in progress. Following her reading, Lyon will be interviewed by Victoria novelist Esi Edugyan. Lyon will read the following day at the University of Victoria, Fine Arts Building, room 203.

Lyon’s book of novellas, The Best Thing For You (McClelland & Stewart, 2004) and first book of fiction, Oxygen (McClelland & Stewart, 2000), a collection of short stories, were published to wide acclaim.  “Annabel Lyon is a sharp, funny, and subversive writer who knows how to keep her readers off-balance,” wrote Quill and Quire in a starred review of her novella collection. The Vancouver Sun declared Lyon “this generation’s answer to Alice Munro.” The Georgia Straight enthused about her “persistent, sparse imagery” and her characters’ “eccentric quirks and complexities.”

Wednesday March 26, 7:30pm, Open Space, 510 Fort Street
