Vertical Gallery
Judah Kong, Nathan Brown, Angela Teng
Opening: Thursday April 17, 5:30pm - 7:30pm

Open Space presents Vertical Gallery, an exhibition by three dynamic
emerging artists selected by judicator Marlaina Buch of The Maltwood Gallery. Nathan
Brown, Judah Kong and Angela Teng contribute individual mixed media installations
invoking playful reworkings/reconsiderations of everyday objects, memory and
contemporary culture.
Nathan Brown’s Colourform compares the sterility of modernity and architecture with
the disarray of their past and present evolving counterparts. Brown’s piece is site
specific, allowing the viewer to experience the object’s relationship with the space
in which it is exhibiited. Angela Teng’s Laundry documents daily life through found
objects. Fascinated with children’s ability to make art for the sake of making art,
Teng frequently extracts from children’s drawings, borrowing their unique sensibilities
and deft attention to borders and lines. Judah Kong’s Thought Dispenser conisders
the value and potential disposablity of information. Thought Dispenser explores the
subjective state of information, both its use value and its exhaustion.
Please join us on Thursday April 17, 5:30pm for an opening and light reception.
Vertical Gallery runs until April 30.
